This February, Wiygul Automotive Clinic is proud to celebrate Black History Month by showcasing the incredible talent of three local Black artists in our shops. Join us as we honor their creativity, culture, and community contributions with inspiring art displays at select locations.
Each shop will feature unique works from these talented artists February 1-28, offering a glimpse into their artistic journeys and powerful perspectives. Whether you’re stopping by for service or simply want to experience something beautiful, we invite you to enjoy these displays.
MEET THE ARTISTS
Imani Roberts
Imani Roberts holds an MPS in Creative Arts Therapy and a BFA/MS in Art Education from Pratt Institute. As an artist, emerging art therapist, and enthused educator who peels apart topics on race, gender, and identity, she seeks to create and facilitate liberating and socially responsive work. The provocation is to encourage ideas of self-realized liberation. Using the traditional mediums of oil paint on canvas, she has entered the realm of the arts once dominated by a ruling minority to express the language of the oppressed and unheard. She draws inspiration from African American artists who have visually explored identity using figures and identifiable color choices in her work to reflect how she experiences the world.
Brittany Moná
Brittany Moná is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist based in Maryland, celebrated for her vibrant, abstract depictions of the Black diaspora. Rooted in ancestral practices, cultural storytelling, and her upbringing in Washington, D.C., her work reflects themes of identity, love, and resilience. Combining elements of neo-expressionism, graffiti, and African art, Brittany creates bold, layered compositions that honor communal histories while envisioning pathways for liberation and joy. Moná’s work has been featured in spaces such as the Smithsonian Institution, The Phillips Collection, and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
David Ivey
David Ivey is a self-taught artist who began painting in 2013. Through his art, he expresses emotions that words cannot capture, using brushes, paint, and canvas to communicate his inner world. An optimist at heart, David has also endured profound periods of darkness. He loves painting picturesque scenes to demonstrate that, no matter the present circumstances, love, tranquility, and beauty can always be found.
Celebrate Black History Month with us by supporting and uplifting local artistry. We’re excited to share this special experience with our community.
We look forward to seeing you!
